What you get

Included in every roof restoration job

Full roof clean and moss treatment first

Ridge capping re-bedded and repointed

Broken and slipped tiles replaced

Sealer coat, then two coats of membrane

Colour of your choice, with photos at each stage

Signs you need this
  • Tiles have gone porous and hold water long after rain
  • Colour has faded unevenly across the roof
  • Ridge mortar is crumbling in more than one place
  • The roof is the thing making the house look older than it is
  • Preparing to sell, or the roof has not been touched in 15 years

Restoration versus replacement

Restoration makes sense when the tiles themselves are structurally sound and what has failed is the surface and the mortar. It does not make sense when tiles are widely cracked or the battens underneath have gone. Deciding which one you are looking at is the first thing we do, and if the honest answer is that your roof needs replacing we will say so — recoating a failing roof buys a couple of years and wastes the money you would have put toward the real fix.

The order of work matters

Clean first, then repair, then repoint, then coat. Every one of those steps depends on the one before it: coating over moss traps moisture under the membrane, and pointing over a dirty ridge gives the mortar nothing to bond to. A restoration that skips the preparation looks identical on the day it is finished and starts failing within two summers, which is why we photograph each stage rather than just the end result.

What it does to the rest of the house

A roof is the largest single surface anyone sees when they look at your house, and a faded, streaked one drags everything below it down with it. Restoration is the cheapest thing you can do to a Sydney home that changes how the whole property reads from the street — considerably cheaper than painting the exterior, and it lasts longer.

What it costs

Restoration is quoted on roof size, pitch, tile condition and how much repointing is needed, so the range is wide and a number quoted sight unseen would be meaningless. We assess the roof and give you a fixed written price before anything starts.

FAQ

Roof restoration questions

Most residential roofs are a multi-day job because each stage has to cure before the next. Weather moves it — we will not coat a roof that is not properly dry, and we would rather push a day than compromise the finish.

Restoration is worth it when the tiles are structurally sound and it is the surface and mortar that have failed. If tiles are widely cracked or the battens have gone, replacement is the honest answer and we will tell you.

Yes. You pick the colour as part of the quote, and we will show you how it looks against your brickwork before committing.

Yes. The specifics depend on the membrane system used on your roof, and the terms are written into your quote rather than promised verbally.

Overflowing gutters rot fascias, flood ceilings and void insurance claims. A clean costs a fraction of the repair — and we can usually be there this week.
